SHOPNSAVE APP DESIGN
This project was done during my Treehouse Tech Degree program. You can View the live mockup here: Link
OVERVIEW
The goal for this project is to build an app for users that will allow them to not only use as a regular grocery store app, but to also be able to place an order for pickup. And in that, the user will be able to select who is picking their groceries based on ratings and what they might be best rated at.
PROBLEM
The problem that stood out most prominently was users who were afraid to try curbside pickup or were soured on the idea after trying it for the same reasoning: They were fearful of who would be picking out their meat and or produce.
Nearly every person who uses, used or has never used an app/curbside pickup expressed this concern in one way or another.
AUDIENCE
The target audience is men or women ages 25-55 who are busy with their jobs and life and don’t have a lot of time for wandering around stores on their lunch breaks or after work. These people would benefit the most because with this app they'll be able to see what’s in stock and they'll be able to place an order on their phone and have it ready for them to pick up when they are free to do so. They also will have the option to choose who is picking their groceries and review and rate them.
They should be the primary shoppers for their household, have a smartphone, go grocery shopping on a weekly basis.
SOLUTIONS
How I looked to resolve this issue is pretty simple on the surface. In order to calm the fears of users I plan to have a system set up where you can look over a list of pickers who are on duty at the time and choose who you would want to have picking your items.
Each person will have a short bio and a picture, and, users will be able to rate them on different subjects so in the end one user who is great at picking produce and or meat will be displayed as such and will give confidence to the user to go ahead and pick them and go forward with the curbside pickup option.
WHAT I LEARNED
I learned through research that there is a great want and need for an app for grocery stores that allows for users to be able to select who is picking their items, allowing them to see their strengths (IE: Good a picking produce) will settle people's worries about having other people select their groceries for them. Most people I talked to in my research weren't too keen on the idea of people picking out their groceries if they can help it, but when they were asked if they were able to select the person with some knowledge of how well they select items they really changed their mind about it.
